MODIFIED CITRUS PECTIN SLASHED SPREAD OF PROSTATE CANCER CELLS 20%

A study conducted at Tel Aviv Medical Center in Israel has revealed that oral modified citrus pectin (MCP) has the ability to enhance common prostate cancer treatments.
In fact, according to researchers, MCP not only enhanced the cancer-fighting effects of radiation therapy—a treatment commonly used to treat androgen-independent (AI) aggressive prostate cancer cells—it also helped keep the cancer from spreading to other parts of the body.
The MCP was able to literally increase the radio-sensitivity of aggressive cancer cells, which in turn made the radiation therapy more effective!
MODIFIED CITRUS PECTIN PROVIDES VARIETY OF HEALTH BENEFITS
The new study builds on prior successful research on MCP’s powerful anti-cancer actions. Past studies have found that MCP has the ability to induce cancer cell death (apoptosis) and inhibit the growth and spread of cancer.
In addition, modified citrus pectin has already been proven to be a team player, working in tandem with chemotherapy drugs and cancer-fighting botanicals.
Previous research has shown MCP has benefits in a number of cancer types, including breast, prostate, colon and others.
MCP is also an effective chelator of toxic metals, as well as a selective immune enhancer shown to activate and increase cytotoxicity of NK cells ex vivo.
Plus, research shows the highly absorbable MCP can help protect against inflammation and fibrosis by inhibiting galectin-3 a lectin that’s associated with inflammatory cells.
HELPS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST AGGRESSIVE PROSTATE CANCER CELLS
This new study is the first to clearly show MCP’s incredible ability to radio-sensitize aggressive, AI prostate cancer cells.
This is so important because radiation treatment for prostate cancer can become less effective over time as the cancer cells become radio-resistant. But the new findings show that by introducing MCP we may be able to send the radio-sensitivity of those aggressive prostate cancer cells climbing.
Meaning, of course, the treatment can become more effective once again.
MCP SLASHED CELL SPREAD 20% & CELL INVASION 40%
For the study researchers tested the effects of MCP on three different AI-prostate cancer cell lines, DU-145, PC-3, and CI-1, both alone and in combination with the radiation treatment.
Even alone the MCP had some solid effects, decreasing cell viability. But it’s when the two treatments were combined that something really incredible happened.
The combo treatment worked effectively in tandem against two of the cell lines tested, DU-145 and CI-1. But when MCP was combined with the PC-3 cancer line there were even more added benefits.
In the end, modified citrus pectin slashed the spread (migration) of prostate cancer cells by 20 percent and reduced cell invasion by a remarkable 40 percent.
These results show that MCP is an effective radio-sensitizer of AI prostate cancer cells. Which means MCP may be used to selectively enhance cytotoxicity and overcome radio-resistance in the fight against cancer.
The modified citrus pectin used in the study is made from the pith of citrus fruit peels, and modified to a specific molecular weight and structure using a proprietary enzymatic and pH process. This helps makes the pectin more easily absorbed.
